A new constellation of high-throughput spacecraft, Intelsat EpicNG, enables throughput in the range of 25-60 Gbps per satellite, about 10x that of traditional satellites and 3x that of next-generation Ka-band solutions.
This white paper offers details and results from three case studies:
- Working with Gilat Satellite Networks in support of their partnership with Diamond Aircraft on their DA42 MPP Guardian aircraft designed for homeland security applications, we tested the potential of high EIRP and G/T performance provided by Intelsat EpicNG satellites to produce higher transmission rates from existing terminals, especially smaller, so-called disadvantaged, satellite terminals.
- Partnering with the U.S. Marine Corps, we conducted testing to evaluate HTS technologies to support Networking-on-the-Move (NOTM) requirements.
- We conducted iDirect Evolution performance testing on IS-29e on a number of DoD user terminals from Tampa Microwave, L-3 GCS Panther II, Harris Seeker, GATR Flex, TECOM KuStream, and Rantec to measure capability and verify gains on the first Intelsat EpicNG satellite.
