Rory Welch

Vice President of Engineering and Service Delivery

Rory Welch is the Vice President of Engineering and Service Delivery at Intelsat General. He leads a geographically diverse team responsible for designing, implementing and supporting resilient and cost-effective satellite communications solutions for our customers, including U.S. military and civil organizations, international government agencies and various commercial enterprises. He guides all program management, space segment engineering, ground network engineering, information technology operations and service delivery activities for IGC. His team is also responsible for conducting all customer support activities through IGC’s Secure Operations Center in Ellenwood, GA, and teleport operations in Paumalu, HI.

Mr. Welch previously served as Director of Space Services at Intelsat General, where he managed the delivery of superior satellite related services, and led critical customer engagement initiatives and business development strategies. He was also responsible for designing and executing complex strategy and capture campaigns aimed at diversifying the company’s business by securing revenue in non-core mission areas, such as hosted payloads, ground operations, flight operations and orbital serving.

Before joining the Intelsat General team, Mr. Welch served as a senior space operations officer in the U.S. Air Force. He has over 23 years of experience in satellite operations, national ISR systems, space launch, strategic planning, and program management.

Mr. Welch has a Bachelor of Science Degree from Worcester Polytechnic Institute, a Master of Arts from Air University and a Master of Arts from George Washington University.
