Distance Learning

Intelsat General Distance Learning broadcast service is ideal for transferring knowledge to communities which are hard-to-reach or have numerous dispersed locations. Universities, government agencies, military and commercial firms appreciate its scalability, which allows for cost-effective live and recorded programming distribution on a local, regional and global basis.

For areas whose local telecom infrastructure does not support a reliable terrestrial connection, we provision a return satellite feed for live voice or video interaction. We also have occasional use service for customers with intermittent service requirements.

Our Distance Learning Solution includes:

  • Broadcast video mode only (Simplex service) using terrestrial narrowband return connections as available
  • Hub and spoke configurations with broadcast video feed outbound and return Very Small Aperture Terminal (VSAT) feeds
  • C-band, Ka-band and Ku-band space segment
  • Full-time and occasional use availability of space segment capacity
  • Superior customer service and technical expertise provided through our ISOC, a dedicated, 24/7 operations center
  • Occasional use video operations center, available 24/7, including online booking for easy service coordination

Optional added benefits include:

  • State-of-the-art, secure teleport facilities with advanced uplink and downlink equipment
  • Secure, redundant fiber backhaul between our teleports and major international Points of Presence (PoPs)
  • Co-location of customer-owned equipment at an Intelsat teleport facility or PoP
  • Remote-site VSAT antenna installation, operation and maintenance

These comprehensive features generate countless benefits for our customers and their user communities.
