Hosted Payload Security Standards
Intelsat General is aware, engaged and invested in security consistent with DoD standards for Information Assurance. Recognizing the need for operational security, Intelsat General offers a Secure Operations Center (ISOC) dedicated solely to the unique needs of our government customers. To ensure quality of service for mission-critical communications, Intelsat General provides the following:
- Services with the in-built defense-in-depth information security engineering across the full value chain
- Transport services: satellite service, teleport and hub services, terrestrial connectivity
- Design, Engineering, Integration: Network design, engineering analysis and integration with appropriate information systems security engineering
- Operations: Network operations and management, performance and security monitoring and customer service
- Equipment: Remote antenna and applications equipment, installation, operations and maintenance, offering the required performance and security monitoring
- Satellite command encryption
- Physically-protected, redundant TT&C sites
- Hot back-up satellite and network operations centers
- Redundant teleport facilities and terrestrial facilities
- Physical security at diverse satellite operations, network operations sites and back-up sites
- Multi-person software verification for satellite operations
- Fully cleared staff; Background checks on staff and ongoing operations security training
- Interference geo-location systems and trained staff
- Full disaster recovery and continuity of operations facilities and readiness exercises of staff
- IT Systems with Enterprise Security Management oversight; vulnerability scanning, firewalls and a range of trusted security hardware and software measures / countermeasures employed to mitigate customer network intrusion, denial of service disruptions & cyber-threats
- Primary satellite and terrestrial networks protected against virus insertion through trusted software; primary operations networks connected outside of Intelsat only through protected links
- IT Systems which are largely Mission Assurance Category I compliant with DoD and NIST standards relating to Minimum Security Controls for Information Systems
