Intelsat General Named to Provide Satellite Services Under GSA’s SATCOM-II

Bethesda, MD, May 2, 2007 – Intelsat General Corp., a wholly owned subsidiary of Intelsat, Ltd. has been selected to provide a range of U.S. government agencies with satellite communications services for the next five years under a broad contract valued at $750 million.

Intelsat General brought together six other firms to be its partners in the successful bid to be part of the contract. The Intelsat General team is one of only two satellite operators named in the new SATCOM-II contract announced by the General Services Administration.

Being named in the contract guarantees that the Intelsat General team will have an opportunity to bid on a wide variety of government communications needs. The contract makes it easier for government departments and military services to fill their demand for satellite services at competitive pricing and with flexible ordering and billing. In addition to the two satellite operators, the GSA said 22 other firms would be allowed to bid on providing equipment and services under the contract
Members of the Intelsat General Team are Applied Systems Integrator for equipment and engineering; Broadcast International for IP and broadband technology applications; CACI International for integration of equipment, operations and maintenance; DataPath for portable satellite solutions; Paradigm Secure Communications for specialized military communications; and XTAR for X-band satellite services.

“Our business model for SATCOM-II was to ensure flexibility and responsiveness for the government customer,” said William Shernit, president of Intelsat General. “Our team will utilize a ‘best fit’ approach in bringing together industry leaders in a variety of specialties to meet the challenges of the contract.”

SATCOM-II replaces SATCOM-I, under which the government purchased about $500 million in satellite services from a number of companies, including Intelsat General.

In addition to being named a Prime Contract Awardee, Intelsat General has also been listed as a partner and subcontractor to Artel, AT&T Government Services, DasNet Corporation, EDS, Knight Sky Consulting, RiteNet Corp and Telenor Satellite Services in their contract awards.
